VISUAL DIRECTION ARTWORK · NOT A PRODUCT SCREENSHOT

A real-time social mobile product integrating native Android experiences with custom connection management, communications, a Node.js backend and database architecture.

The challenge

Build a native mobile social product with identity, feeds, conversations and real-time interaction.

Our approach

The Android product uses Kotlin and Jetpack Compose across modular features. A Node.js and Express backend handles service APIs and data in MySQL. A custom-built persistent connection mechanism supports realtime interaction; the app also includes voice and video-related features and local speech recognition with sherpa-onnx and ONNX Runtime.

ENGINEERING, BEYOND THE IMAGE

The engineering behind real-time connection.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

A social product combines mobile interaction, presence, conversations and on-device speech processing. This study focuses on the engineering systems that support those experiences.

The decisions beneath
the experience.

Social experiences move between discovery, messaging and real-time interaction. Each transition depends on consistent state, reliable service boundaries and responsive native UI.

IMPLEMENTATION APPROACH

A native interaction model

A Kotlin and Jetpack Compose Android application works alongside Node.js / Express services, MySQL data and a custom persistent-connection command layer. Local speech-recognition features use sherpa-onnx with ONNX Runtime.

Compose lets mobile UI and interaction patterns evolve within an Android-native architecture, while the backend keeps service responsibilities separate. The on-device ASR path is a distinct feature, not a blanket claim that all AI processing is offline.

01 / IMPLEMENTATION

Based on documented project scope

This case describes technologies and implementation details supplied in the project history. It does not invent numerical project outcomes, customer testimonials or benchmark results.

INSIDE THE BUILD

More than
the surface.

A modular native Android product supported by a custom service backend and real-time connection management.

THE CONTEXT

Social products need responsive conversations, a coherent identity and feed experience, and predictable behaviour when connections change.

01 / ENGINEERING NOTE

A product built as a system

The Android codebase is modular, separating reusable UI, core data, communications and feature-specific flows. Kotlin and Jetpack Compose support native screens, with the backend operating separately from the client.

02 / ENGINEERING NOTE

Real-time without hiding complexity

The product uses a custom-built persistent connection mechanism alongside messaging and communication features. Voice/video functionality is part of the product scope; this case does not claim a proprietary underlying transport protocol.

03 / ENGINEERING NOTE

Voice, closer to the device

On-device recognition uses sherpa-onnx and ONNX Runtime, with a model deployed as part of the application rather than assuming all recognition runs in a remote LLM.
